1. Why is a well-constructed pattern helpful?
If you're writing a thesis for the first time, a well-structured template will help you get started and make it easier to focus on the content, not just the formal details.
2. Structural framework – your key building blocks
- Introduction – thesis statement, research question, topicality, objectives
- Theoretical background – topics divided into chapters; up to half of the thesis
- Primary research – structure: goal, circumstances, method, results, detailed analysis
- Closing thoughts – summary, suggestions, further research opportunities
- Bibliography – according to the referencing style prescribed by the institution
- Attachments – figures, extra tables, questionnaires that can be referenced in the text
️ 3. Structure, outline, schedule – manage your time too!
- Develop a detailed outline, with notes for each chapter – it will help you not to wander off track while writing.
- Make a schedule for the deadline. Give yourself a few extra days to review and make corrections.
✍️ 4. Hone your style and authenticity
- Use scientific yet understandable language. Avoid a lot of verbatim citations, and create your own thoughts!
- Use a reference manager to avoid inaccurate citations - thereby minimizing the risk of plagiarism.
✅ 5. Precise formal appearance
- The font (e.g. Times New Roman, 12 point), line spacing (1.5), and margins should be consistent - this is important for a professional impression.
- Thoroughly learn the referencing guidelines of your university/college (APA, Harvard, etc.) - this is the key to getting your thesis accepted.
6. Strict quality control
- Let the text rest! After a few days, it's easier to find mistakes with fresh eyes.
- Ask for other opinions: a consultant, a friend, a colleague. They will often notice where you have already made routine mistakes (in logic or style).
7. Value-adding suggestions
- In the final chapter, highlight what could be continued and researched in more depth - this will also add scientific value to your work.
8. Attachments and presentation supplements
- If you have questionnaires or interviews, use the attachments.
- Consider creating a related PPT presentation – it is close to the defense process and helps you organize your thoughts.
