How to choose a research question, hypothesis?

Once you have the topic and the consultant, it's time to delve deeper into the task at hand. Ideally, you've already covered the subject/area in question during your studies (perhaps that's why you want to write a thesis about it), or even better, you already have a question/hypothesis in mind.

If we don't have a hypothesis yet, we have several options:

  • If we have chosen a predetermined topic for our thesis, we will probably also receive questions/hypotheses.
  • If we trust our consultant, we can raise our uncertainty about the question with him. We will certainly get some help from him. We should pay attention to the fact that in this case the proposed concept should be used in the thesis.
  • Perhaps the most useful thing is to take some time and search the internet for the topic. In most cases, we will find an article, study, or writing that can give us an idea for our research question or hypothesis.

In summary:

In terms of the questions and hypotheses explored during the thesis, it is worth choosing a topic that is interesting for some reason, unusual, measurable, and testable. Something that has something to compare it to and that has available literature. 

If we manage to find such a topic, it is worth checking our idea with the help of Google and our consultant. This way we can save ourselves a lot of unnecessary work.
